A Week of Food Adventures: Young Food Explorers!
This week, our campers became young food explorers, discovering the stories, flavors, and cultures behind the food we eat! From learning where ingredients come from to exploring nutrition and kitchen safety, every day was filled with hands-on learning—and, of course, plenty of delicious food.
Our little chefs rolled up their sleeves and got busy in the kitchen. They prepared colorful fruit and vegetable salads, learned how to make dumplings and wontons, mixed vegetables with vermicelli, and created fun purple rice balls. Along the way, they practiced basic food preparation skills, learned about healthy ingredients, and discovered that cooking can be both creative and fun!
One of the highlights of the week was our outdoor adventure at Coyote Point Recreation Area. Surrounded by sunshine and nature, the campers enjoyed an outdoor BBQ picnic and had the chance to help prepare food in a beautiful natural setting. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience how food, nature, and time together can make summer days even more special.
From the kitchen to the picnic table, our young explorers learned, created, tasted, and shared. Most importantly, they discovered that food is more than just something we eat—it can be a way to explore cultures, learn new skills, and connect with the world around us.
