Experiencing Qingming: A Cultural Spring Camp
During our Qingming-themed camp, children experienced a beautiful blend of culture, art, and seasonal exploration. Over the course of the program, they stepped into the traditions of Qingming through stories, hands-on activities, and creative expression.
Through storytelling and visual exploration, campers learned about the origins and customs of Qingming. They discovered the meanings behind spring outings, willow planting, and ancestral remembrance, gaining a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance of the season.
One of the most memorable experiences was practicing traditional brush calligraphy. Campers wrote Qingming-themed poems, learning to slow down and focus on each stroke. This activity encouraged patience while introducing them to the elegance of this art form.
Another highlight was creating hand-painted kites. Inspired by the imagery of spring, each child designed and decorated their own kite, bringing their creativity to life. The activity captured the joy and lightness of the season while connecting to traditional customs.
Throughout the camp, children were not only learning about a festival—they were experiencing it. Through art, storytelling, and hands-on activities, they felt the gentle beauty of spring and the quiet, reflective spirit of Qingmi
