Stepping into a World of Heroes Through Stories & Play

Following our winter camp, we were excited to bring back our much-loved Three Kingdoms–themed one-day camp. This time, students continued their journey into the vivid world of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, exploring classic stories while learning about legendary heroes and the historical context behind them.

Guided by storytelling and discussion, children were introduced to well-known figures such as Zhuge Liang and Guan Yu. As they listened, asked questions, and shared their thoughts, the characters came to life—full of personality, strategy, and courage.

To bring the stories to life, we designed a variety of hands-on activities and interactive games that encouraged active participation and deeper understanding:

Inspired by the classic story, children were divided into three “kingdoms” and took part in an exciting archery competition. Each team aimed to “borrow” as many arrows as possible by scoring points through their shots. Through friendly competition, teamwork, and strategy, they experienced the spirit of the story in a fun and engaging way.

Channeling the creativity of ancient builders, students used different materials to design and build their own boats. They tested their creations on water, experimenting with balance, structure, and buoyancy—learning through trial, observation, and improvement.

Beyond just remembering names, children began to understand the decisions, personalities, and wisdom of the heroes. Each discussion became an opportunity to think more deeply and express their ideas.

The stories of the Three Kingdoms are truly endless. In just one day, children experienced history not only through listening, but through creating, playing, and discovering. These timeless stories became something they could see, touch, and connect with.
